Tourism is booming on Easter Island. With the height of the summer tourist season still three months away, flights and hotel rooms in “The World’s Navel” are already becoming a scarce commodity.

A 12-story, 473-room Crowne Plaza hotel at the Toronto Pearson International Airport will open this month as InterContinental Hotels Group announced. The Crowne Plaza Toronto Airport is owned and managed by Royal Equator Inc., under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group.

Carnival Cruise Lines has exercised its option to extend its berthing agreement with the Port of New Orleans for another two years. The extension will keep Carnival sailing year-round from the Crescent City through October 26, 2010.
