The Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina, in the British Virgin Islands, will join Marriott International’s Autograph Collection brand of properties in early 2012 under a franchise agreement with Scrub Island Development Group Ltd. The resort will be the Autograph Collection’s first in the Caribbean and Marriott International’s first property in the British Virgin Islands.

Marriott International, Inc. and ownership group Granite Broadway Development announced a signed franchise agreement to develop the Courtyard and Residence Inn Manhattan/Central Park, a new 68-story property housing the 378-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel and the 261-room Residence Inn by Marriott hotel.

In December, Riu Hotels & Resorts will open the new Riu Palace Bavaro in the Riu Punta Cana complex, located on Arena Gorda beach. The resort’s opening coincides with the Mallorca-based hotel group’s 20th anniversary.

Antigua’s Curtain Bluff resort is launching an “Encore Weddings” package for guests planning a second wedding at the resort. The packages are designed for previously married brides and grooms to enjoy a lavish wedding ceremony with children and grandchildren present.

Located in the heart of downtown Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Hotel Quinta Del Sol by Solmar Hotels & Resorts recently announced plans for a property renovation valued at $1.5 million. Scheduled for completion in November, clients of the 72-suite property will enjoy a new lobby, remodeled event space, Jacuzzi area and on-site restaurant, Las Quintas.

Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, will open in Puerto Rico in December 2012 as Ritz-Carlton's second Reserve, joining Phulay Bay on the Thai island of Krabi, which opened in December 2009.
