A senior executive of one of the leading online providers of travel services will give delegates to the 29th Annual Caribbean Tourism Conference (CTC-29) an insight into how to use the Internet to expand their business. Tracey Weber, the chief operating officer (COO) in North America for Travelocity, will set the tone for the CTC-29 taking place from October 22 to 25 in the Bahamas. Ms. Weber will deliver the conference’s keynote address during the first plenary session for all delegates on Monday, October 23.

The Caribbean Gift and Craft Show (CGCS) opened to the public on Friday and is expected to be an outstanding fair. The theme for CGCS 2006 is “Excellence Through Innovation, Creativity and Strategic Linkages”. Over 200 exhibitors from more than 20 Caribbean countries, including Cuba, the French Islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Curacao, and St. Maarten, as well as all the CARICOM countries are taking part in the thirteenth edition of the Caribbean Gift and Craft Show at the St. Kitts Marriott.

Dominican tourism authorities were represented in the VI Spaniard-American Conference of Tourism Ministers to was held last week in Uruguay. The event tackled topics related to migration issues, as well as the difficulties confronted by the region.

“Enhancing the Business of Tourism – The Path to Sustainability” is the general theme for the Green Globe International Conference and the Green Tourism Conference to be held November 1 to 3 at the Half Moon Hotel in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) will launch a trade show at the upcoming 29th Annual Caribbean Tourism Conference (CTC-29), slated for Oct. 22 through 25 in the Bahamas. The tabletop display area will be open round-the-clock over the four days of the conference, putting exhibitors in direct contact with the hundreds of delegates attending CTC-29.

The 15-nation Caribbean Community will offer a regional visa to ease travel for cricket fans island-hopping for the 2007 World Cup Cricket, an official said Monday. Martin Joseph, the chairman of the national security and law enforcement council of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) trade group, said that visitors will only need one visa for the Caricom member states beginning January 15, and will only have to clear customs once while in the region.
