The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has unveiled the Allied Membership program, designed to offer certain benefits to travel suppliers and connect them with CLIA’s robust roster of travel agents and agencies.

Windstar Cruises announced its 2008 sailing season, with a total of 146 sailings aboard its three luxury yachts. In the Caribbean, the Wind Surf is offering seven-day sailings roundtrip from Barbados with a variety of ports of call on northbound and southbound itineraries, and the Wind Spirit is offering seven-day sailings roundtrip from St. Thomas.

With the 2007/2008 cruise ship season scheduled to bring in over 400,000 passengers to St Kitts and Nevis, it is expected that the 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 seasons will be busier.

The major representatives from the world cruise industry met this week in Miami to address the industry’s problems that have significantly eroded profits and threaten even more, given the current prices of fuel.

Silversea Cruises will be bringing the newly acquired Discoverer II to the islands of Tahiti in 2009. The ship will soon be christened as the “HSH Prince Albert II”, in honor of Prince Albert II of Monaco. The HSH Prince Albert II is currently undergoing a multi-million dollar refurbishment.
