Two Carnival Cruise Lines ships will call in Roatan, Honduras, this week, despite the military coup in Tegucigalpa, the country’s capital city. The coup has unleashed waves of protest throughout the country.

Puerto Costa Maya has been selected as one of Royal Caribbean International’s ports of call for the 220,000-ton Oasis of the Seas, starting in May 2010. Struck by Hurricane Dean in 2007, Costa Maya, resembling an ancient Mayan city, was rebuilt.

Cruise Planners/American Express is hosting an exclusive sale June 22 to 29 on all Royal Caribbean bookings for itineraries sailing July 1 through Dec. 31. The sale includes all gratuities for the first and second guest per stateroom and 50 percent reduced deposits.

MSC Cruises is offering savings on back-to-back Canada and New England cruises in fall 2010 on the MSC Magnifica for a 14- or 17-night experience. Cruise-only, back-to-back rates begin at $1,199 per person, double occupancy; government fees and taxes are additional.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. is proud to announce that it has received the first ever “Clean Sea Award.” The award was announced at the Clean Shipping Awards ceremony held during the Nor-Shipping Conference (Oslo, June 9-12), presented in cooperation with Det Norske Veritas (DNV). In total, 60 companies were considered for the various awards and winners were selected by an independent jury.
