Vueling, the new-generation airline, carried a total of 2,896,005 passengers during the first half of 2008, a 15.8 percent increase in relation to the same period of 2007. The airline also increased the number of passengers carried during the second quarter in the year, to 1,480,109, a 3.7 percent increase with regards to last year.

British Airways announced an agreement to acquire French airline L’Avion and integrate the company with its subsidiary OpenSkies, which recently launched daily flights between Paris Orly Airport and New York John F. Kennedy Airport. L’Avion operates two Boeing 757 aircraft between Paris Orly and Newark Airport.
