Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. said it turned an $84.7 million profit during the second quarter of 2008, a 34 percent decline over second-quarter 2007. Revenue for the quarter was $1.6 billion, compared with $1.5 billion in second-quarter 2007.
As its stock traded 15.2 percent higher Wednesday, Northwest Airlines reported the not-so-good news of its $377 million net loss for the second quarter, CNNMoney.com reports. The company cited escalating oil costs as the primary reason for the loss, which was steeper in comparison to the second quarter of 2007.
Southwest Airlines reported net income for second quarter 2008 was $321 million, or $0.44 per diluted share, compared to $278 million, or $.36 per diluted share, for second quarter 2007. Excluding special items, second quarter 2008 net income was $121 million, or $0.16 per diluted share, compared to $195 million, or $.25 per diluted share, for second quarter 2007.
Bank of America reduced Ambassadors International’s line of credit by 40 percent, from $12.5 million to $7.5 million, according to a document Ambassadors filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday.
