Vail Resorts reported net income of $102.9 million for the 12 months ended on July 31, compared with $61.4 million in the prior fiscal year. The company’s net revenue was up in all three areas: mountain (1.7 percent, to $685.5 million), lodging (4.7 percent, to $170.1 million) and real estate (163 percent, to $296.6 million).
Air France-KLM said it “duly noted” Jean-Cyril Spinetta’s wish to separate the posts of chairman and CEO.
AMResorts announced the launch of a new, ultra-premium brand –Origins Wellness & Spa Resorts. The first property to be included in the new collection will be the Riviera Maya’s 90-room Paraiso de la Bonita, a AAA Five Diamond property that is also a member of both Leading Small Hotels of the World and Virtuoso, affiliations that will continue under AMResorts’ management of the property. Paraiso de la Bonita will officially launch as Origins Paraiso de la Bonita in December, before Christmas.
Barcelo Hotels & Resorts announced that a multi-million dollar renovation is underway at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort located in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
Vueling Airlines has been advised of the purchase, by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Lars Nygaard, of 5,582 Vueling shares at an average price of €4.56 per share. Mr. Nygaard’s stake stands at 223,857 shares, which represents 1.5 percent of Vueling’s capital.
Carnival Corp. reported net income of $1.3 billion, or $1.65 earnings per share, on revenues of $4.8 billion for its third quarter ended Aug. 31. That compares to net income of $1.4 billion, or $1.67 diluted earnings per share, on revenues of $4.3 billion for the same period last year.
