Thomson and First Choice predict that the biggest concern for British holidaymakers this year will be getting good value for money.

TUI Travel, one of Europe’s largest tour operators, reported an 11 percent increase in operating profit for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30. Operating profit rose to $735 million.

Customers who find their prepaid hotel room available for a lower price (before taxes and fees) on any site, including Orbitz, can receive a refund for the difference and a $50 discount on a future hotel or vacation package booking.

Add Miami’s trendy Gansevoort South to the list of hotels headed for the auction blocks. Credit Suisse has set an auction date of Jan. 28 for the ownership stake used by developers William and Michael Achenbaum to secure an $89 million mezzanine loan on the 334-room oceanfront hotel, according to the Miami Herald.
