Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has committed Jamaica to deepening relations with Spain as part of an expanded cooperation between the Caribbean Community (Caricom) and that European nation. The investment will create 300 jobs.
In an effort to enhance the trade relationship between Cuba and Jamaica, the country’s national trade and investment agency JAMPRO will be hosting a delegation of Cuban government and business entities from July 8-10, 2014. The delegation includes companies from key economic sectors.
Formerly serving as the US naval station Roosevelt Roads, the property includes prime Caribbean coastline with an airfield and waterfront development.
Puerto Rico isn’t looking only to wealthy, tax-averse Americans for growth—tourism is also high on the list of ideas for boosting the economy. The U.S. territory wants to boost tourism’s share of gross domestic product to 8 percent from 6 percent over the next three years, an increase of $1.2 billion.
TUI AG Friday said it will buy the minority of UK-based holiday operator TUI Travel PLC that it doesn't already own in a deal worth about GBP2 billion, a move that ends years of speculation that it would eventually take full control of its travel unit.
