Taca has strengthened operations in Lima by resuming its daily flights to the cities of La Paz and Santa Cruz, in Bolivia. The flights are being carried out with an Airbus A320 with capacity for 150 passengers. Aerolineas Argentinas, for its part, is adding frequencies to Buenos Aires. Beginning in October, Aerolineas Argentinas will offer nine weekly frequencies in its Lima-Buenos Aires route to be operated with a Boeing 737-500.

As of September 20, Spanish air carrier Iberia will make a total of 17 return flights a week between Madrid and Brazil, further strengthening its position on Europe-Latin America routes. In the past six months, Iberia has doubled its seat supply on Spain-Brazil routes, adding flights and using larger aircraft.

Delta Vacations expanded its Caribbean product line with packages to 13 resorts in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, effective from October 25 with travel commencing on December 15. The launch happens together with the start of Delta´s daily nonstop service between Atlanta and Puerto Plata.

American Eagle is boosting its flight schedule to Caribbean destinations from its San Juan hub in Puerto Rico, beginning in December. The new flight plans include three additional daily flights to St. Thomas; one more daily flight to St. Croix; one additional daily flight to Antigua; and one additional flight to Anguilla, four days per week. All the above flights will begin December 14.

Northwest Airlines, the American air company, has announced seasonal service between its hubs at Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Memphis, Tennessee, and destinations in Mexico and Caribbean. “These seasonal flights from our domestic hubs will provide our customers with easy access to popular vacation spots during the peak winter season,” said Tom Bach, vice president of market planning and Airlink.

GOL, Brazil´s low-cost, low-fare airline, began ticket sales to Santiago de Chile last week. GOL will offer three daily flights to this new destination, with flights starting on September 24. The Chilean capital is GOL´s seventh international destination - the Company currently flies to Buenos Aires, Rosario and Cordoba (Argentina), Montevideo (Uruguay), Asuncion (Paraguay) and Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia).
