Governments could do more to help airlines cut harmful emissions by agreeing to shorten routes than by slapping “green taxes” on air travel, the head of airlines body IATA said.

Delta Air Lines is putting a little reggae in its ongoing expansion at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport with a new nonstop flight to Montego Bay, Jamaica, effective June 9.
Andy Harrison, EasyJet’s Chief Executive, has officially opened the company’s 17th base at Madrid’s Barajas airport. The airline expects to carry over two million passengers from Madrid in 2007 on 18 routes -three domestic, thirteen European and two to North Africa.
Charges will be implemented for extra baggage in British Airways flights from next Tuesday 13th of February. A minimum charge of £30 will be charged to excess bags on domestic flights while the fee will reach £60 per extra bag on European flights and £120 per extra bag on long-haul flights.
United Airlines have been awarded the right to operate a daily non-stop flight between Washington Dulles International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).
