JetBlue Airways has announced a major expansion of service from its focus city at Boston Logan International Airport. The airline, which already offers service to the most nonstop destinations of any carrier from Boston, plans to boost daily departures by 30 percent by summer 2010. With its expanded schedule, JetBlue and its growing base of 1,300 Boston crewmembers will offer travelers up to 78 daily flights to 33 top destinations.

US Airways reported a net loss of $80 million, or ($0.60) per share, for the third quarter of 2009. This compares to a net loss of $866 million, or ($8.46) per share for the same period last year. Excluding special items, the company reported a net loss of $110 million, or ($0.83) per share versus a net loss excluding special items of $243 million, or ($2.36) per share for the same period last year.
Delta Air Lines reported a net loss for the third quarter of $161 million, or $0.19 per share, and said it would cut capacity by 3 percent for 2010. Excluding $212 million in special items, however, the airline reported net income for the third was $51 million, or $0.06 per share. Delta said this result is $115 million better than prior year on a combined basis.
