Delta Air Lines has filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation to add additional nonstop flights between Sao Paulo and the key business markets of New York and Atlanta, increasing competition on air service between the U.S. and Brazil. If approved, Delta will begin second daily Sao Paulo flights to both Atlanta and New York in 2013.

American Airlines filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation for additional flights between the United States and Brazil in 2013 and 2014. American would use the flight authorizations to launch new service between Los Angeles and Sao Paulo in late 2013 and Chicago O'Hare and Sao Paulo in late 2014, according to the company.

JetBlue Airways is pleased to announce its intention to launch new daily nonstop service from Chicago's O'Hare to San Juan. JetBlue's third destination from the Windy City is scheduled to begin service on November 20, 2013. Flights are expected to be out for sale soon.

Canadian carrier WestJet will be extending its flying schedule into Antigua and Barbuda, the airline announced this week. Service will be extended through Oct. 26. The company first added its Antigua service in late October 2012, flying twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays from Toronto.
