The newly launched Hummingbird Airlines has been operating flights in and from Canefield Airport in Dominica every Thursday and Sunday since July 11, 2014. 

An average 150 weekly flights link Dominican Republic with New York, the city with the most flight connections to the Caribbean nation, just with JetBlue, Delta and United airlines, revealed Northwest Tourism Office director Lucien Echavarria.

Pullmantur suspended its own Madrid Barajas to Punta Cana flights late last month so as to free up more capacity for its Hajj charter business. It currently leases Air Europa (UX, Palma de Mallorca Son Sant Joan) A330-200s on the route on a weekly basis instead.
