Wyndham Bermuda Resort to Close for All-Out Remodeling

The 400-room Wyndham Bermuda Resort & Spa will close October 31 and reopen in 2009 as the Southampton Beach Resort, according to Alan Worden, managing director of Windwalker Bermuda, an ownership consortium financed by Lehman Brothers.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts hoisted its management flag at the resort in May 2004 after taking over from Sonesta.

The current property is part of the managed hotel portfolio of Wyndham Hotel Management, which will continue to be involved with the property after it closes this month, although on a limited basis during the renovation and construction process.

During the renovation period, the 32-acre, 45-year-old resort on Bermuda´s south shore will be upgraded to a five-star property, offering a luxury hotel with condo/hotel units; tennis, squash and exercise facilities; a pool and beach access; spa amenities; and dining options.
