WTO Makes Post-Tsunami Tourism Documentary Film
The United Nations World Tourism Organization and a film crew led by Lorma Julianti Hartantyo are now making a film and interviewing key figures related to tourism for the organization´s documentary to help promote tourism for the region.
Visiting Television of Thailand Channel 11 in Phuket for the supply of footage on the tsunami, recovery efforts, early warning system and drills, as well as the region´s present stage of natural beauty and normalcy, Lorna explained that the film production is part of the Phuket declaration following the WTO´s meeting in Phuket after the tsunami last year to assist in tourism promotion for its member countries.
The documentary is expected to air after April in Europe and be distributed to UNWTO´s media contacts for more promotion. Other tsunami affected film locations are Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bali which even though not hit by the tsunami, tourism there was also badly hurt by effects.
