Windstar, Majestic America Increase Fuel Surcharges

Windstar Cruises and Majestic America Line both raised daily fuel surcharges from $8.50 per person to $10 per person for all bookings made after May 19.

Luxury yacht operator Windstar and river cruise and coastal line Majestic are both subsidiaries of Ambassadors International. Diane Moore, Windstar president, spoke for both lines when she said she was “disappointed” they would have to raise the fees.

“We are disappointed that this adjustment is necessary, but we hope our guests understand the impact that soaring fuel prices are having on the cruise industry,” Moore said.

Windstar said the surcharge would apply to all currently published sailings through spring 2009, and Majestic, which is not taking bookings after 2008, said the charges would apply until the end of this year.
