Want Ads for Tourist Cops

Urbano Garcia Santiago, a supervisor for the Tourist Police Department, warned that as many as fifteen more law enforcement officers and several four-wheel bikes are required to efficiently comb the Playa del Carmen beach resort in the Mexican Caribbean, in an effort to stave off a rampant flurry of robberies against tourists there.

Mr. Santiago explained that putting new police officers on the beat and adding more four-wheel motorcycles could guarantee the patrolling of the whole tourist area on a regular basis. Criminals have been playing hob with foreign travelers in Playa del Carmen where local authorities are now logging up to four suitcase snatches every week.
