Venezuela Ministry of Tourism: Certification of Mountain Guides

In Venezuela, the adventure and mountain programs are now among the priorities of the Venezuelan entertainment and tourism industry, aimed at leveraging existing potential in the country for the activities.

In this direction, the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) activated from June 10 a process for the certification of mountain guides in the state of Merida.

The main objective is to regularize the adventure and nature guides in different specialties; high, medium and low mountains; and to eliminate the actual spontaneous and empirical practice of this activity.

Workshops that allow socialization of representatives of various associations and institutions related to the sector will also be organized.

The method includes a first phase of medical, physical, and psychological tests to continue from June 16 until 20 with the exploration of language proficiency.

Meanwhile, the final stage will be in the Sierra Nevada National Park and Desert of the Head.

Having passed all the tests, applicants can access their certification as Tourist Guide High, Medium or Low Mountain to provide this important service in the state of Merida.
