The U.S. Virgin Islands Hotel & Tourism Association (HTA) tapped Lisa Hamilton, director of sales and marketing at Frenchman’s Reef and Morning Star Marriott Resorts in St. Thomas, as its new president.

The position had been vacant since August 2007 when Rik Blythe resigned the post. Prior to Blythe, Beverly Nicholson, the current commissioner of tourism, had headed the association for several years.

Hamilton has served on the board of directors of the HTA and chaired both the membership and marketing committees.

Richard Doumeng, HTA board chairman, said that Hamilton “was one of the earliest and strongest advocates for joining forces with the St. Croix Hotel & Tourism Association to create the USVI HTA.”
