U.S. Travel Institute Released Spanish Travel Agency Proficiency Test
The Travel Institute released a Spanish version of the popular Travel Agent Proficiency (TAP) test. Developed in 1997 by The Travel Institute and ASTA, the test represents a national standard of entry-level proficiency for the travel industry.
Since its launch, more than 7,500 people have taken the TAP test either in print or online. The Institute has approved 150 travel schools and colleges to be official TAP testing locations where the test is primarily administered.
“The Institute realizes that our courses and tests need to reach a much broader audience.” says Maureen Kennedy, executive vice president and general manager of The Travel Institute. “Translating the TAP test to Spanish to accommodate the growing Hispanic segment of our population is the first step in that effort. We want to reach a more global community of travel professionals or those who aspire to enter the industry.”
Among the benefits to candidates who pass either version of the TAP Test are an increased competitive edge with prospective employers; a reduction of the work experience requirement for the CTA designation; a listing on The Travel Institute´s website, and a potentially shortened waiting period for the IATAN Travel Agent ID card.
