U.S. Travel Association Asks Obama to Reconsider Travel Spending Cuts

Roger Dow, head of the U.S. Travel Association, has told the White House that broad policies seeking to cut government travel budgets -- such as the Executive Order signed last week -- can have a chilling effect on legitimate government travel. Dow said it can add extra layers of bureaucracy and make federal employees afraid to travel.

“That would lead to job and revenue loss for travel businesses, less cooperation between federal agencies and the private sector, and a decrease in the efficiency and productivity of government,” Dow wrote in a letter to the White House.
