US Airways Expands Caribbean Service

US Airways Group Inc. is adding nonstop service from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to St. Vincent and the Grenadines via a code-sharing agreement with Caribbean Sun Airlines.

Under a code-sharing agreement, passengers can book a trip that has flights on both airlines with single-ticket pricing, one-stop check-in and coordinated baggage handling.

Flights depart from San Juan at 2:30 p.m. for St. Vincent four times a week. Return flights will depart St. Vincent at 9 a.m. The flight time is two and a half hours, with flights to St. Vincent operating Thursday through Sunday and return flights Friday through Monday.

Caribbean Sun will operate the service using 37-seat Dash 8-100 aircraft. Caribbean Sun Airlines and its sister airline, Caribbean Star Airlines, serve 17 island destinations in the Caribbean. Caribbean Sun began service in 2003.

Virginia-based US Airways, the second-busiest carrier at Piedmont Triad International, entered a code-sharing agreement with Caribbean Sun in 2003 to Antigua, St. Maarten, St. Kitts and Tortola, via San Juan.
