UNESCO to Weigh New Sites for Heritage of Mankind Title

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will evaluate a group of both natural and cultural sites around the world to be declared Heritage of Mankind.

The organization will look into some 33 cultural places and 8 historic sites proposed by a total of 36 countries. Mexico and Panama are the only Latin American nations that have presented their candidacies to UNESCO this year.

Up to now, there are 582 cultural places, 149 natural sites and 23 locations with mixed values registered as Heritage of Mankind in the UNESCO´s logbooks.

Out of the 129 countries on the list, Spain ranks first with a grand total of 38 cultural and natural places.

The list of UNESCO´s Heritage of Mankind Sites is one of the world´s most accurate and credible international tools.
