UNESCO Report Published in Paris Reveals Mankind Has Downgraded 60 Percent of Earth´s Natural Resources

Mankind is tapping into the planet´s natural resources in an unfettered and unprecedented fashion for the past fifty years, thus weakening nature´s ability to provide people with such basic commodities as air and water and fight back against natural catastrophes, a recent UNESCO report reveals.

Some 1,300 experts from 95 countries concluded in Paris that approximately 60 percent of the globe´s natural basic services -water, air, seafood and weather are some on a list of two dozen resources- are being depleted to perilous levels.

Poor populations are bearing the brunt of man´s downgrading action. Dams that provide power supply to big cities are also disturbing access to soils and fishing areas, especially in rural areas. Large-scale deforestation of the Amazons and Indonesian woods are also hurting local residents, the report indicates.

Agriculture, stock breeding and fishing have ramped up dramatically for the benefit of millions of human beings everywhere. However, this productivity upturn has been done at the expense of other vital services furnished by Mother Nature.
