UK Air Tax to Rise Again in April

The controversial air passenger duty on travel from the UK is set to rise again next month. As of April 1, travelers to the Caribbean will pay about $260 extra per ticket. That’s an increase from $238.

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) calls the tax discriminatory. That’s because many Caribbean countries are charged higher duties than most USA states despite being the same distance from the United Kingdom.

CTO figures show the region saw a decline in British tourists for the third year in a row –a trend that applies to Cayman as well.
