TUI Travel Backs Jamaican Tourism with Sensatori

The resort on Negril’s Seven Mile Beach is the sixth Sensatori property to open around the world and will be supported by a 40% increase in UK capacity this summer by Thomson Airways.

Tui Travel chief executive Long visited Jamaica to mark the opening and met with the island’s prime minster, Portia Simpson-Miller.

“We have very strong relationships with the government and the tourism board here, and it has been a pleasure to work with them over recent years,” said Long.

“We are fully committed to supporting the development of travel and tourism in Jamaica; it is a beautiful destination with fantastic surroundings, not to mention a rich and vibrant culture. For Tui Travel, it is a tourism hotspot of the future.”

Tui’s expansion in Jamaica means that Thomson Airways will have doubled its capacity from the UK by summer 2015 over a three-year period. Thomson said the Caribbean destination was now “more accessible” due to the use of its Boeing Dreamliner aircraft.

Cruise ship Thomson Dream is also to be based from the island’s Montego Bay from December 2014 – the only UK ship to be sailing from the port next winter.

The new Sensatori resort is owned by Karisma Hotels & Resorts and will be operated by Thomson.
