Trinidad and Tobago Appoints New Tourism Minister

Joseph Ross, a newly elected member of Trinidad and Tobago’s Parliament, has been appointed minister of tourism in Trinidad and Tobago.

Ross’ appointment follows recent elections that returned incumbent Prime Minister Patrick Manning’s Peoples National Movement party to power for a third five-year term.

The 54-year-old Ross, a certified auditor by occupation, has held senior positions with the Ministry of Finance as a budget analyst and served as chairman of the constituency of Barataria/San Juan in Trinidad.

He joins a 28-member cabinet that was sworn in on Nov. 8 in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Ross replaced Howard Chun Lee, former minister of tourism, who opted not to run for re-election.
