Travelers Arriving in Aruba Will Wait Less at Airport

A new facility has been inaugurated at the Queen Beatrix International Airport in Oranjestad, Aruba, bringing considerable improvement in the services provided to general aviation. Travelers that make use of private planes now spend less time at the airport at departure as well as at arrival.

Private plane users now have their own terminal located at the south side of the landing strip, where customs, immigration and security services are available.

It is a temporary facility and will function until the terminal building is completed. It has two spaces: one operations rooms where pilots can file their flight plan and receive weather information; and in the other space customs, security and immigration controls will take place. There is also a cozy waiting room for the passengers.

General aviation is a growing market for Aruba, and the Aruba Airport Authority (AAA) has been working for some time on plans to meet the requirements of the market. After a selection procedure AAA has chosen Universal Aviation Aruba to run the facility.

It is expected that it will be completed early next year. The new terminal will have a VIP waiting room, internet facilities and tax-free shops.

AAA Director Steinmetz is very pleased with the new service and looks forward to the completion of the new General Aviation terminal building early next year.
