Travel Impressions Appoints Head of Delta Vacations Brand
Travel Impressions named Charles Gallina vice president and general manager of Delta Vacations following Travel Impressions’ official takeover of the Delta Vacations brand on Tuesday.
In March, Delta Air Lines said it would be teaming with Travel Impressions to provide Delta Vacations packages, ending Delta Vacations’ 28-year partnership with Certified Vacations Group.
Mr. Gallina joined Travel Impressions in 2000, spending his first five years as vice president of sales. Prior to being named to his current post, Gallina spent the last three years as vice president of new business development and management for Travel Impressions.
This transition marked the end of an era for Delta Vacations and Certified Vacations Group, which had been managing and operating the Delta Vacations brand until July 1. Delta Vacations was formed in 1980 when Michael Egan, founder of Certified, convinced Delta that he could operate its vacation packaging on an outsourcing model more effectively than the airline could do it in-house.
Travel Impressions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of American Express, manages the brands United Vacations-Latin America, American Express Vacations, Almond Vacations, Cable Beach Getaways, Caribbean Escapes, The Affluent Traveler and Tropicana Getaways, in addition to Delta Vacations.
