Transport Ministry Advises Bulgaria’s Carriers to Apply for IATA Aviation Audit

The Transport Ministry advised air carriers in Bulgaria to ask for an International Air Transport Agency (IATA) audit in order to receive operational safety certificate.

On March 26, Transport Minister Petar Moutafchiev attended the ceremony during which national flag carrier Bulgaria Air received its IATA certificate. Bulgaria Air is the first Bulgarian carrier to obtain the
document.

Meeting IATA certificate requirements will improve the quality of service local carriers offer, Moutafchiev said as quoted by Focus news agency.

Each company structure will undergo inspection concerning organization, management and maintenance, Moutafchiev said. Companies will also be examined for flight service and control, luggage management, security and onboard service, Focus news agency reported.

Bulgaria Air achieved great success by receiving the certificate, Moutafchiev said. Hemus Air is the second Bulgarian company that has applied for IATA audit. The procedure will enable the company get a certificate in the future.
