Trafalgar Rolls Out 2010 Latin American Programs
Trafalgar introduced its new Luxury Adventures for 2010, including a number of new features. Trafalgar’s exclusive Be My Guest program allows passengers to immerse themselves through special meals and experiences offered in the homes and at the tables of locals.
New for 2010 is Trafalgar’s Be My Guest program in Mexico. Travelers to Mexico can dine with a local family on the nine-day Mexico’s Copper Canyon tour. Guests are welcomed by the Torres family into a circa 1800s, beautifully restored mansion in El Fuerte, Mexico.
Dinner includes delicious regional specialties including locally caught Black Bass and performances by traditional Hispanic and indigenous dancers. These tours are priced from $1,499 per person.
Clients on Trafalgar’s nine-day Treasures of the Yucatan itinerary can meet chef David Sterling, a frequent Oprah guest, who will teach how to cook local Mexican cuisine and mix the perfect margarita in his colonial home in Merida. After the cooking class, clients sit down to sample a variety of Yucatan specialties. The tour is priced from $1,599 per person.
In Central and South America, whether winding through the streets of Buenos Aires, wandering the rainforests of Costa Rica or heading to the heights of Machu Picchu, Trafalgar’s travelers can be dinner guests of welcoming and knowledgeable families.
In Glimpse of South America, for example –a new tour for 2010- visitors divide up among houses of established Argentine families to taste and experience their hospitality, between jaunts to Iguazu Falls, Manaus and the Amazon. Prices start at $2,425 per person.
In a second new tour, Highlights of Peru, a “Be My Guest” lunch is arranged at the private family home of the Diez Cansecos. After a tour of the home some traditional Lima dishes are served just if Trafalgar’s guests were highly regarded friends of the family.
Other highlights of the eight-day tour include an overnight at Machu Picchu and the opportunity for a Galapagos Cruise extension aboard the First Class Santa Cruz. Prices start at $1,850 per person.
Similarly, the popular Costa Rico Eco Adventure for 2010 features nights spent in the Tortuguero National Park and Monteverde Cloud Forest as well as a Be My Guest experience.
Guests enjoy a special lunch on the way to Arenal, prepared in the home of a local family, followed by a dance performance by students from a nearby school. Rates for the eight-day eco adventure start at $1,725. The 2010 edition of Trafalgar’s South American brochure features unusual “Be My Guest” opportunities for all the tours to this region.
All prices are per person double occupancy (land only) and include first class accommodations, transportation by luxury air conditioned coach, sightseeing and activities, breakfast daily, many other meals including farewell dinner with wine, and the expertise of Trafalgar’s professional tour directors and drivers.
