“Ernest Littles, president of the Tourism Development Company of Trinidad & Tobago, tendered his resignation today,” announced George Stanley Beard, chairman, on Friday.  “We deeply appreciate his years of dedication to forwarding the mission of tourism and hospitality for Trinidad & Tobago and we are grateful for his many substantial achievements.”

Lara M. de Sonpere, Divisional Manager, Legal and Administrative, and Corporate Secretary to the Board of Directors of the Tourism Development Company, has been named Interim President.

“The TDC is reviewing its structure to ensure alignment with its mandate and this is expected to be completed within the next two months and in the meantime, Ms. de Sonpere will ensure the entire Trinidad & Tobago team of the TDC as well as the overseas representatives will go forward with their strategic plans,” continued Chairman Beard.

The overseas representatives from the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom have an extremely strong line up of foreign media, including the BBC and CNN, due to arrive in Trinidad & Tobago for Carnival 2011 next week which is sure to capture the world’s attention.

The entire Board of Directors of the TDC is enthusiastic about the potential of increasing both awareness and tourism arrivals for the coming year.  Further, strategic initiatives in the UK, Europe and North America are planned and will be announced in the next month.
