Tourism Authorities Warn on Burglars in Cancun’s Hotels

Tourism officials from the Mexican world-class destination of Cancun are on the lookout amid a wave of robberies that have occurred in several hotels.

Tourism Undersecretary for the state of Quintana Roo, Dario Flota, said that seventy percent of all crimes reported at the Cancun Attorney’s Office in the first half of the ongoing year were robberies and batteries against tourists in their own hotels.

Located in the Mexican Caribbean, Cancun is the Aztec nation’s number-one travel destination for foreign travelers, generating way over $2 billion worth of revenues every year.

The number of burglarized tourists in Cancun’s hotels has been dramatically on the rise and has become a nagging problem for tourism authorities in the area.
