Tobago Hosts 23rd Annual International Cycling Classic

The island of Tobago is gearing up to host the 23rd Annual International Cycling Classic. The five-day / five-stage event will be held from September 30 to October 4, 2009 and features world-class athletes including the return of last year’s champion, Heath Blackgrove of New Zealand, Team Saxony from Germany, the Austrian National Team and Team Aerocat from the United States.

For the 2009 edition of the event, hotels and resorts are offering special savings to cyclists taking part in the classic and those visitors looking to find their “Inner-Armstrong.”

The Palms Villa Resort combines the tranquility and beauty of the unspoiled tropical rainforest with luxury villa accommodations. After a grueling day of racing, guests can relax and unwind at The Palms Villa Resort. From now until October 15, 2009, cycling enthusiasts staying at the resort can enjoy a savings of 45 percent with nightly rates of $300, inclusive of tax.

Blue Haven Hotel, extensively renovated, combines the traditions of the past with the modern facilities of today. From now until October 15, 2009, riders and visitors staying at the hotel can take advantage of complimentary upgrades to superior or deluxe rooms, based on availability, and complimentary breakfast for a nightly rate of $95, with tax included.

The Villas at Stonehaven, situated on a gently sloped hillside overlooking the crystal blue waters of the Caribbean Sea, feature 14 luxurious three-bedroom villas with panoramic views of the Tobago coastline. Now through October 5, 2009, guests who book seven nights at the resort will pay for just five nights.

Half Moon Blue Hotel, nestled within a garden of palms, bamboo trees and bougainvillea, lies beneath the historic Fort George.
