Three More Carriers Go to Etix

Copa Airlines, Emirates and SN Brussels Airlines advised U.S. agents they are moving to all-e-ticket policies worldwide. A total of eight carriers have announced all-e-ticket policies prior to IATA’s implementation of 100 percent e-ticketing for agents outside the U.S.

Copa, Emirates and SN Brussels say they only permit e-tickets, but as with the other five, it’s not certain there will be no occasions for paper tickets.

If exceptions must be made, Emirates wants agents to contact one of the carrier’s offices. The airline will lift paper for awhile but “doesn’t want to,” said Nigel Page, senior vice president for the Americas.

He said Emirates has e-ticket interline arrangements with all major U.S. carriers except Alaska, and adding that a deal will be wrapped up in a couple of weeks.
