Third Courtyard by Marriott Hotel Planned for Puerto Rico in 2007
The third Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Puerto Rico will open in 2007 in Aguadilla under a franchise agreement with Hotel Punta Borinquen, Inc., which is owned by the prominent Puerto Rican businessman Jesus Ruiz.
“We´re delighted with the continued growth of our portfolio in Puerto Rico and the expansion of our Courtyard brand on the island,” said Ed Fuller, president and managing director of international lodging for Marriott International. “Our moderately priced Courtyard lodging brand has been well-received in San Juan and we are pleased to be able to introduce it in another Puerto Rican city.”
For dining and entertainment, the Courtyard by Marriott Aguadilla will have a restaurant and lounge. Recreational amenities will include a swimming pool, a fitness facility a tennis court and a casino. Other amenities will include a gift shop and several other retail outlets.
For social events and small conferences, the hotel will offer 2,400 square feet of meeting space in addition to outdoor function areas.
The Marriott International portfolio in Puerto Rico is currently represented by the 525-room San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino and the 256-room Courtyard Isla Verde Beach Resort. Soon to open are the 139-room Courtyard Miramar and the 248-room Renaissance La Concha, both of which are in San Juan.
