TAM, the Brazilian air company, is carrying out a special promotional effort aimed at pushing tourism to the top in member states of the South Common Market (MERCOSUR), the organization’s president, Miguel Candia, told Caribbean News Digital.

The project’s main goal is to lure an ever-growing amount of travelers to the economic region –MERCOSUR is made up of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay- and step up promotion as far as events, congress and fairs are concerned.

The initiative is part of a series of activities intended to highlight the natural culture and open up a window of opportunity for regional markets.

TAM-MERCOSUR offers nonstop international flights in and out of South America to the cities of Asuncion, Ciudad del Este, Foz de Iguazu, Curitiba, San Pablo, Paris, Montevideo and Buenos Aires.

”By doing so, Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay will be just at tourists’ fingertips,” an enthusiastic Mr. Candia indicated.

In addition to facilitating tourism programs in the region, the TAM Project also wants to pitch a hand in bringing national economies back to life and staving off poverty and unemployment.

On the other hand, TAM will initiate daily flights to Chile and Peru in coming months. All planes will take off from Rio de Janeiro with stopovers in Sao Paolo on their way to Santiago de Chile and Lima. Rio de Janeiro will be the end destination of these round-trip flights.
