Summertime in Santiago with Paper Figures

Santiago de Cuba is hosting Origami workshops these days and journalist Betty Beatón tells us about it:

An useful and entertaining activity is being developed in these hot August days in Santiago de Cuba: Origami workshops (paper handicrafts) for everybody, no age limit. The proposal, headed by writer Mirna Figueredo Silva, an Origami expert and coordinator of Paper Universe project, is taking place at Balcón de Velázquez, a space nestled right in the heart of the city.

Four Origami themes take every Tuesday and Thursday of boys, girls, teenagers and adults that have joined the workshop: My Personal Zoo (making of birds, fish, insects and other animals), The Charm of Messages (making of postcards, envelopes and present boxes), Making my own Toys (entertaining objects) and Useful Origami (practical and beautiful ideas to decorate rooms for children and other spaces of the house).

This creative and interactive proposal is part of the summer plan organized in this province by different organizations and institutions in order to dish out more leisure option for the people.

Origami is a thousand-year-old Japanese technique that entails the designing and making of a variety of paper figures, thus amazing the people who observe them because of the beauty and perfection they display.
