St Maarten, Anguilla Sign Memorandum on Ferry Terminal Operations

The governments of St Maarten and Anguilla have signed a Memorandum of Understanding regulating the operations of the Simpson Bay Ferry Terminal.

Anguilla Chief Minister Hubert Hughes and Home Affairs Minister Jerome Roberts signed the memorandum on behalf of Anguilla, while Justice Minister Dennis Richardson and Tourism Minister Thadeus Richardson signed the agreement on behalf of St Maarten.

According to a St Maarten government statement, the MoU “forms the basis of the Immigration operations of both islands and helps to facilitate the smooth flow of passengers that are transiting to Anguilla via the SXM Airport.”

Once the terminal becomes operational, the government said that “the travel experience of guests to both islands will be greatly enhanced,” St Maarten’s government said. The ferry trip takes about 25 minutes between St Maarten and Anguilla.
