St. Kitts Breaks Ground on Championship Golf Course

Prime Minister Denzil Douglas has high hopes that the construction of an 18-hole Championship Golf Course, a major component of a massive multi-million dollar tourism development project, will transform St. Kitts and Nevis.

He made the comments last week at the ground breaking for the Tom Fazio-designed course. The wider Christophe Harbor Development includes five-star hotels, a mega-yacht marina, boutiques, shops, luxurious villas, ocean front homes and private homesites on around six beaches on 2,500 acres of land.

Prime Minister Douglas noted the start of construction for the 250-acre golf course comes against the current global economic environment which is characterized by financial crises, economic malaise, and outright fear among investors and workers.

He lauded the commitment of the Chairman and CEO of Kiawah Development Partners, Buddy Darby, who has already pumped massive resources into the project and who will commit hundreds of millions of dollars to the continued development of the resort project on the Southeast Peninsula.

“This is because of his optimism and faith in the future of St. Kitts and Nevis, and his confidence that the investment in this project will bring significant returns to his investors and, at the same time, help to bring a better quality of life to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis,” said Prime Minister Douglas.
