Spirit Halts Service between Fort Lauderdale, Turks & Caicos

Spirit Airlines stopped its eight-month-old service from Fort Lauderdale to the Turks and Caicos earlier this month, according to Rebecca Rivera, communications manager.

The carrier had launched daily service from Fort Lauderdale to Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, on February 16, followed three days later by twice-weekly service on Wednesdays and Sundays to Grand Turk.

The carrier declined to cite specific reasons for the pullout, saying only that Spirit is continually assessing market opportunities. “We will continue to monitor the various opportunities in the Turks and Caicos Islands,” Ms. Rivera was quoted as saying.
