Sol Melia Appoints Esther Trujillo to Lead its Sustainable Development Activities
Sol Melia has appointed Esther Trujillo as Vice President of Sustainable Development, a position from which she will lead the definition and implementation of sustainable development strategies at the Spanish hotel chain.
Sol Melia’s firm commitment to Sustainable Development has been made even more apparent with its inclusion as one of the 5 key strategic areas in the recently announced Sol Melia Strategic Plan 2008-2010.
The company’s main objectives are to create value both for the company itself and for its stakeholders through the creation of corporate policies and projects which will help to strengthen Sol Melia’s relationships with those stakeholders: employees, customers, suppliers, shareholders, local communities and the natural environment.
Esther Trujillo is a bilingual translator and has a Diploma in Public Relations, after which she also studied specialist courses in Corporate Responsibility at the Harvard Business School and ESADE-Stanford.
Her professional career has mainly been spent at Grupo Telefónica, where she has worked for the last 12 years, focusing on network management and institutional participation in domestic and international Community Involvement and Sustainable Development programs.
She has also played a key role in the coordination of transversal community involvement projects and in dialogue to earn the commitment of stakeholders.
