Sol Air: a new airline plows the Caribbean skies

With a view to add two cents worth of its own in both tourism and business in Honduras, Sol Air –the country’s first-ever airline- started out with initial daily flights to Miami and stopovers on their way back in San Salvador (El Salvador) and San Pedro de Sula, Honduras’ second-best city some 240 kilometers from Tegucigalpa, the nation’s capital.

Sol Air is cutting its teeth with Boeing 727 aircraft under the wing of U.S.-based Falcon airline. Honduras’ last national air carrier was named Servicio Aereo de Honduras, S.A. (SAHSA) whose passenger flights came to a close on January 13, 1994.
