Santiago Makes Preps for International Communication Symposium

More than 130 researchers from across Cuba and about 80 foreigners from 20 countries have confirmed their participation in the XIV International Symposium of Social Communication, to be held from 19 to 23 January in the city of Santiago de Cuba.

This event organized by the Center for Applied Linguistics (CLA) based in this city, in conjunction with the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, opens its doors to speeches and experiences on various topics such as art, Computational Linguistics, moderation of language, among others.

Lectures by professors from Austria, Peru, Mexico and other nations are also taught and books and works of science personalities of Santiago taxed to the daily work of those who advocate maintaining the quality of the mother tongue will be presented.

Leonel Ruiz Miyares, director of the CLA, said this year particularity, the meeting will feature the narrator and poet Nancy Morejon, president of the Cuban Academy of Language, who give the inaugural conference of the appointment.

The presence of so many scholars and intellectuals of the world, not only in Cuba reaffirms the quality of the Symposium and the importance of cultivating and caring for the Caribbean and Cuban linguistic said.

Since its inception in 1987, the International Symposium on Social Communication is one of the most important scientific events held in Santiago de Cuba and the most prestigious in the field of linguistics.
