Sandos Caracol Eco-Resort & Spa Appoints New Corporate Director of Environment

The Sandos Hotel Group has appointed Efrain Rios Castillo as Corporate Director of Environment and Sustainable Development of Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa and all the hotels in the Sandos portfolio in the Riviera Maya, (www.Sandos.com) Mexico, to continue maintaining a commitment to eco friendly practices and five-star quality service.

Efrain Rios Castillo is an Aquaculture Fisheries Engineer who graduated from Instituto Tecnológico del Mar de Boca del Rio, Veracruz and has a master’s degree in Biological Sciences. After college he worked as a research assistant of the National Institute of Fisheries in Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo.

In 1994 he participated in the Xcaret Aquarium Project and the Sea Turtles Protection Program, later designing and developing the aquaculture area.  From 2003 to 2008 he led the Management of Sustainable Development area at the Xcaret Park, being in charge of environmental education and biostatistics departments, among many others.

During 2009 and 2010 he worked as an independent consultant with Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa and due to his professional contribution has been appointed Environment Corporate Manager.
