San Antonio’s CVB Taps Cassandra Matej as New Executive Director

San Antonio City Manager Sheryl Sculley has announced the appointment of Cassandra Matej as new executive director of the San Antonio Visitors & Conventions Bureau. Mrs. Matej comes to San Antonio, Texas, with vast experience in a number of CVBs across the United States, let alone ample expertise in the hotel and travel sectors.

Over the past three years and right before her new assignment, Mrs. Matej served as senior deputy president of Sales and Services for the Dallas Visitors & Conventions Bureau. During her tenure, she played a key role in the revamping of the Bureau’s sales division that eventually led to a whopping 40 percent uptick in the sale of rooms per night for meetings and conventions.

Mrs. Matej has a degree in Language Communication Sciences with specialization in Organizational Communication at the University of Texas in Austin.

The city of San Antonio is one of the most sought-after travel destinations in the state of Texas, not only for standing barely 200 miles from Houston and some 150 miles north of Mexico, but also for boasting rich history and culture, let alone an array of entertainment opportunities and the best shopping in America.
