Passengers aboard Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas cruise ship reportedly were hit with Norovirus, the gastrointestinal illness a couple of weeks ago. The seven-night sailing voyage that took off from Miami on May 26 returned Saturday morning on schedule to the Port of Miami.

A Royal Caribbean spokesman said that 172 of the ship’s 3,846 guests and 10 of its 1,425 crewmembers contracted the illness. Those affected by the illness, according to the spokesman, responded well to over-the-counter medication administered onboard the ship.

Liberty of the Seas had port calls in San Juan, Puerto Rico; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; and Labadee, Haiti. The ship was christened last month and had its first commercial voyage.
