Round Hill, Bermuda Hotel Association Update Hurricane Policies
Round Hill Hotel & Villas in Montego Bay, Jamaica, unveiled its version of a hurricane policy, valid during the 2007 Atlantic Hurricane Season, joining a long and growing list of travel industry entities offering such programs.
The policy, in effect through November, guarantees guests a free replacement vacation for the same duration in the same room category as the original booking if a hurricane disrupts services at the resort, according to Josef Forstmayr, managing director.
Once again, the Bermuda Hotel Association is offering its Hurricane Guarantee program this season at 10 resorts on the island.
If a hurricane-force storm is predicted by the Bermuda Weather Service to approach within 200 miles of Bermuda and within five days of a guest’s stay, a guest can cancel the stay without penalty. Deposits will be refunded or applied to a future booking.
If Bermuda is directly affected by a hurricane during the guest’s stay, the hotel will not charge for rooms, food, beverages and other essential services during the time that its normal services are not available. Meanwhile, if a hotel is forced to close due to storm damage, the guest can return for a free stay in the same room category within one year of the hotel’s reopening.
Participant properties are 9 Beaches, Cambridge Beaches, Clearview Guest House, Edgehill Manor, Elbow Beach Bermuda, Fairmont Hamilton Princess, Fairmont Southampton, Grotto Bay Beach Resort, The St. George’s Club, and Waterloo House.
